On November 6, 2009 President Obama signed The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 into law. The law authorizes a tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers and up to $6,500 for qualified “long-time resident” purchasing a principal residence on or after November 6, 2009 and before April 30, 2010.
